Aiming for Safety

Welcome to the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario (F.S.E.S.O) website. Our mission is to provide quality firearms training to the residents of Ontario at a reasonable cost.

We are the professional association of instructors in Ontario who are appointed and certified by the Chief Firearms Office to teach and examine the Canadian Firearm Safety Course (CFSC). Some of our instructors are further appointed and certified to teach and examine the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC). In addition, many of our Instructors are further certified to teach and examine the Ontario Hunter Education Course.

The F.S.E.S.O educates individuals in Ontario on the safe and responsible use and handling of both Non-Restricted and Restricted firearms. You can find an instructor in your area by clicking on the "Find an Instructor" link on the menu bar above.

The F.S.E.S.O does not keep a master list of course dates. Course dates and pricing are available from your local instructor. Please note that course fees are to prescribed maximums as set out by the Chief Firearms Office, and Study manuals may only be sold for a maximim of $15.00 plus tax each. Please click on the corresponding links on the menu bar above for more information.

NOTE: There are companies and individuals, not associated to the F.S.E.S.O., who advertise on line to provide you with Firearms Safety Training Courses. These persons ARE NOT certified by the Chief Firearms Office of Ontario to teach and test the Canadian Firearms Safety Courses. You should ensure you are dealing only with a Chief Firearms Office certified Firearms Instructor and Examiner before registering for any courses or examinations. Ask the instructor or examiner if they are designated by the Chief Firearms Office of Ontario to be a firearms instructor and/or examiner.

F.S.E.S.O. instructors are the only Firearms Safety Instructors approved by the Chief Firearms Office of Ontario to instruct or provide testing for these courses for the purposes of an individual wishing to obtain their P.A.L.
